REGIO Malbec, Lodi CA

Regio Malbec, 2013

Needed something to go with both seafood and lasagna. I decided on Lodi, California, the home of my favorite Michael David. Picked Malbec, primarily known as an Argentinian varietal, but since Lodi is also a warm climate, Malbec should also thrive in Lodi, CA.

Online this wine is characterized by complex fruit flavors, nice mouthfeel, deep color and a medium to full bodied style. I found it jammy, balanced, and easy drinking red.

It served both our seafood in lasagna choice, yeah that $30 retail restaurant price in a place offering $11-15 glass pours, the bottle was a good buy on a expensive wine menu. Retails for $15ish. Nice easy-drinking red choice for big ripe-fruit lovers.
